Andrew Breitbart R.I.P.
(Politics,Society)

American conservatives lost a great champion this past week. Andrew Breitbart died much too soon and it was a shock to many of us. I've had a YouTube channel for a while, but hadn't posted anything to it. In truth, a big part of why was simply fear. I knew I'd be opening myself up to a whole lot of attacks the moment I did. YouTube certainly has a very vocal liberal contingent. But Andrew's sudden death moved me to create and post a short memorial video. Wow!

Despite the fact that this channel had zero subscribers, commenters came out of the woodwork. Or perhaps I should call them trolls; I believe that's the term used in the YouTube 'verse for these types. How on Earth did they find this little channel? Were they simply trolling YouTube, searching for the name Andrew Breitbart, hoping to find targets to attack? Whatever the case, I was truly shocked by the vile hatred and vitriol spewing forth.

I won't repeat the nasty comments here, but you can go to the channel and see for yourself: VoiceFromTheRight. Here's part of what bothers me about it — the complete lack of decorum. It is beyond me to ever post such despicable things in a public forum. I tried to picture if there was ever anyone I hated so much that I'd be moved to behave in this way. Take Osama Bin Laden. He's right up there among human beings I truly detest, yet when he was killed, I didn't jump online and praise his demise in such disgusting terms.

I'm sure there are those on the right who behave this way, but it definitely appears to be much more prevalent on the left. Why is the group who professes to be more tolerant so intolerant?

All my sympathies go out to the family and friends (of which there are many) of Andrew Breitbart. And my sympathies also go out to all those pathetic souls who felt the need to berate and debase this champion of the New Media. How sorry their poor lives must be to behave in such an immature way.
